We're the Hammers, not the Castles.

I'm with Jack on this.

The crossed hammers are iconic.

Adding the castle just makes everything overfussy.

Re: Playing in purple for the FA CUP
There never used to be a castle on our badge, that was a later addition, when the badge was previously changed, as it has been several times

Personally, I much prefer the crossed hammers without the poxy-looking castle (which never really existed in real life anyway!)

Re: Playing in purple for the FA CUP
I can't understand their logic about getting rid of the castle because we will no longer be at the Boleyn.. Ship building in the area stopped decades ago but they have still kept the Hammers!

Weird that he said it, considering the crest has changed so often in the past.

Did they every actually say they'd never change the crest? Certain people say they did, but I don't remember it. I'm not saying they didn't, just that I don't remember. Anyone?

Re: Playing in purple for the FA CUP
No.

We have been drawn away in the competition to begin with so far so if we do have another home game for the shirt to be worn at will mean it is automatically a success.

Olympic seating is too expensive to replace, so we will be changing kit to black and white hoops

Exeter. I suppose the club crest (blazer badge) has been altered a lot. Hammers removed and added, even the words West Ham have been removed and added at different times. The castle has changed a lot too. Take a look here. http://theyflysohigh.co.uk/club-crest/4548286338

The Thames Ironworks did have Royal Appointment. If you look at the pics of the main building there was a fuck off big Royal coat of arms over the door.

Someone who works in clothing told me its indigo, not purple.

As someone with coloublindness i havent a bloody clue what it is. all looks blue to me. I like the gold trim though.

Purple (velvet) with gold trimming?
The new owner also wanted a crown crest and By Royal Appointment sign put up.

Thankfully Her Majesty has relented

Give it five years and they'll launch a new 'classic' crest.

Re: Playing in purple for the FA CUP
ive got no problem with changing the crest and 'retiring' the castle. just wish it was something other than the totally shit design that they came up with. Loads of fans did better ones.

Tips, there is a difference between slight alterations and 'changing'.

When was the last time half of what was represented on our crest was completely removed?

When was the last time a new word was added to our crest?

When did DG say he'd 'never' change the crest? It's been changed loads of times.
FA cup kits are just a marketing gimmick. If you mix claret and blue together............. you get purple.
